Yare 2022: Italy ranks second in the world for refit companies and shipyards
According to Navigo's estimates on the order book in Italy, 19% of superyacht buyers are Russian

According to yacht fleet data released during the Superyacht Captains Forum—the usual in-depth analysis of the market as part of the YARE (Yachting Aftersales & Refit Experience) program currently underway in Viareggio—Italy is among the top ten countries in the world with the largest number of shipyards and companies dedicated to refitting pleasure vessels. It is second only to the United States and ahead of countries such as Turkey, Spain, and France.
Naturally, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and its potential impact on the pleasure boating industry, which, according to Navigo estimates, accounts for 19% of Russian superyacht buyers, were also discussed during the event. From what emerged, the conflict is unlikely to have a significant negative impact on the entire sector. "The impact on the market, considering the approximately two-year construction and delivery times for superyachts over 40 and 60 meters," noted Navigo's general manager, Pietro Angelini, "could be more or less severe depending on the duration of the war. We hope, for reasons unrelated to this, that it will end as soon as possible."
As is customary, Yare was provided with data on the global yacht fleet along with those forecast for the decade 2020/2030: superyachts in the largest range, between 30 and 45 meters, between 2011 and 2020 numbered 1.123 with a forecast of 1.209 units in the decade 2020/2030. Between 45 and 60 meters, there were 301 boats and 290 yachts in 2020/2030.
The fleet in the 60-90 meter range remains essentially unchanged: 151 yachts in the 2011-2020 period and 149 in the 2020-2030 period; the fleet over 90 meters has increased from 43 to 62 megayachts. This represents a total increase of 92 units (the difference between the 1.618 and 1.710 forecasts).
