Groundbreaking has begun in Genoa for the shiplift concession to Amico & Co.
After this intervention, scheduled to be completed in March, the shipyard will be able to accommodate mega yachts up to 110 metres in length.

The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority which governs the port of Genoa has announced that the "tooth cutting" works have begun relating to lot 1 of the project restoration and enhancement of the shipbuilding area of the Levante Waterfront.
"The project involves re-profiling the pier located between the nautical dock and the technical dock. Thanks to the deepening and widening of the access channel, this will allow the transit of larger vessels and make the shiplift operated by Amico&Co fully operational, capable of accommodating megayachts up to 110 meters in length," a statement explains.
Cutting and demolition of the quay superstructure and wave wall are currently underway. The work, which will last 30 days, is scheduled for completion in the first week of March.
The project, known as "Restoration and enhancement of the shipbuilding area between the Darsena Nautica and the Darsena Tecnica," is comprised of two lots aimed at improving the performance of the shipbuilding area between the Darsena Nautica and the Darsena Tecnica. Lot 1, as mentioned, involves the demolition of a portion of the head of the existing dock in the Darsena Nautica, "whose current size does not permit the entry of large vessels into the shiplift operated by Amico & Co," explains the port authority. "Lot 2 involves a series of interventions within the Darsena Tecnica, specifically the extension of the existing dock on the west side and the construction of a wave barrier."
