Perini Navi is officially reborn with New Sail
Local Tuscan institutions celebrate the happy ending of the bankruptcy

Perini Navi of Viareggio is being reborn with New Sail; the latter is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Italian Sea Group, which won the shipyard at auction last December.
Great satisfaction was expressed during the videoconference meeting held between the Tuscany Region, the regional agency Arti, the new owner of Perini Navi, the trade unions, and the Municipality of Viareggio, represented by Councilor Walter Alberici. "We will naturally continue to follow and monitor the development process," commented Valerio Fabiani, special advisor to the president of the Tuscany Region for labor policies, who has been following the matter. "We remain available for any further support needed. But at this point, the matter is closed: in the best possible way."
The takeover agreement calls for gradual full employment, specifically around sixty in-house employees, and also envisions the development of the site, with a particular focus on strengthening industrial and commercial relationships with companies linked to the Viareggio and Versilia nautical industry. In the eight days since the new owner, wholly owned by The Italian Sea Group, assumed full management of the company, over half of the workforce has already been reemployed. This is therefore a positive sign. Reassurances have also been given regarding the already numerous orders and future development plans.
Perini Navi of Viareggio is a world leader in the production of luxury sailing and motor yachts, from design to construction, and the new ownership will continue to operate in that sector and at the same level. The shipyard's history has been long and turbulent: the company filed for bankruptcy on January 29, 2021, followed by various unsuccessful auctions, the sale of the brand to new owners in December for €80 million, and finally, the acquisition and full ownership in recent weeks.
"The Region," Fabiani recalls, "followed step by step, from the very beginning, a situation that had become critical. And if Perini Navi ultimately, despite everything, was reborn, it was also thanks to the attitude and commitment of the unions and the workers."
